Los Alamos has a longstanding tradition of research in fundamental aspects of quantum physics. An important body of work done here in the last decade concentrates in the study of decoherence, the transition from quantum to classical and on various problems related to quantum information and quantum computation. This page summarizes the work done by people presently or formerly affiliated to the Theoretical (T) and Computer Science (CCS) Divisions of LANL. Our present research is part of the effort made at the Laboratory in the area of quantum information science and technology, which are coordinated by the recently created Quantum Institute. The work presented here is mostly theoretical but we maintain a strong interaction with experimental groups at LANL and elsewhere.
